Welcome to Monte Terras - Bed & Breakfast and Cabinas and welcome to Costa Rica. Your Hosts, Kees (Dutch) and Griselda (Tica), welcome you to Monte Terras B&B and Cabinas and to beautiful Costa Rica. The B&B is situated in a charming, spacious home overlooking Lake Arenal and with a spectacular view of Arenal Volcano, in Tronadora de Tilaran. The Cabinas are build back in the garden, where it’s nice and quiet with a lovely view at the garden. Its central location, views and tranquil setting make it an ideal starting point for people who want to relax and enjoy nature. Monte Terras is surrounded by a large tropical garden where you can enjoy nature while relaxing in your hammock or simply take in the views of the countryside, the lake and the volcano from the large veranda or at the reception.

Location

You will find Monte Terras in the quiet village of Tronadora de Tilaran, at Lake Arenal. Tronadora has a supermarket, a restaurant and an internet café.Tilaran is a bigger town where you will find several banks, restaurants and shops as well as a bus station from where buses depart daily to San José, Cañas, Fortuna and Monteverde.By car: From San José you take the Pan Americana to San Ramon/ Cañas. In Cañas you take a right to Tilaran, after the Plaza del Toros. At the T-section you turn left. Follow from*From Liberia you take the Pan Americana to Cañas/San José. In Cañas you take a left turn to Tilaran before the Plaza del Toros. At the T-section you turn left. Follow from**In Tilaran you take a sharp left turn at the Total gas station. At the Y-section with a busstop in the middle you go straight on. The road goes down toward the lake. From here its 5 km to Tronadora. Take a left turn before the tiny park, its a dirtroad. After 300 meters youll find a sign Monte Terra. Turn left and drive up the hill.

Just bring your hiking boots and go for a walk. We have several hiking routes available and you can also choose to explore the forest together with a guide. In the dark too!Lake Arenal is great for swimming, fishing and windsurfing or you can cruise the water in a canoe. Want to go rafting ? the river Corobici close to Cañas is the nearest option. While you are there, you can go admire the animals at Las Pumas animal shelter. National Park Rincon de la Vieja is located north of Liberia. Its volcanic mudpools are worth a visit and you will smell the sulfur. On the way to Liberia you can stop and visit the beautifull waterfalls of Llanos de Cortes. Feel free to bring your lunch and enjoy. On your programm offcourse is the Monteverde Cloudforest. If you love forest and trees, this sure is worth a visit. Here you will smell the pure (forest) air while walking on the suspension bridges or through the National Park Sta. Elena Cloudforest Reserve.The Rio Celeste is a less known National Park but is mainly worth going to in the dry season. It rains less and therefor the river shows it’s turquoise color. While climbing and hiking you will pass the river several times.Everybody would like to see the Arenal volcano. The only active one in Costa Rica. You will be impressed at his size when hiking at the bottom of the volcano, and hear it rumble too. From Monte Terras you can see the lava come down, if you are lucky.....Around the Arenal vulcano and La Fortuna you will find a number of hotsprings. Examples are Tabacon Hotspring, Baldi Hotspring and Eco Termales.

Massage

Monte Terras is a great place to relax. Read a book in the garden, simply enjoy the surroundings or enjoy a nice massage.Griselda obtained various certificates for relaxing massages in Costa Rica. You can enjoy one of these massages as a pause during your vacation. Please ask Griselda if she can make time to give you a massage, it's really worth it.You can choose between Relaxing body massage and Reiki.The massages will last a half hour or an hour and you can choose from several combinations. Please ask Griselda for more information.
