Your hosts, Kees and Griselda, welcome you to Monte Terras B&B and Cabinas and to beautiful Costa Rica. Our Tilaran hotel is situated in a charming spacious home, overlooking Lake Arenal and has a spectacular view on Arenal Volcano. You can admire the lake view, also the large saltwater pool provides a beautiful view over the lake. We are a family friendly hotel and provide a trampoline and a baby pool for the little ones.
The cabinas are built in the back of the garden, where it’s nice and quiet. The lovely garden view and tranquil setting make it the perfect place for people who want to relax and enjoy nature. You can spot monkeys, toucans, and hummingbirds from your veranda at the room. We are famous for our breakfast that we deliver to your cabina (optional).
Pets are allowed and we provide laundry service, baggage storage and private parking. We can also help you with travel questions, not just for the Tilaran and Lake Arenal area, also for the rest of Costa Rica. We also run a travel agency, so you can benefit from our knowledge of Costa Rica. We hopefully see you soon in Tilaran, Costa Rica!

Tilaran is quiet
& centrally located
Our hotel in Tilaran is located in the small town of Tronadora right next to Lake Arenal. No mass tourism here; it is nice and quiet. We are centrally located from Costa Rica highlights as: Monteverde Cloud Forest, Rincon de la Vieja volcano, Rio Celeste and Tenorio volcano, Arenal volcano, several hot springs, and of course Lake Arenal itself. Lake Arenal offers many water activities that are fun for both children as adults.

Stunning location!
I booked two nights and stayed at Monte Terras for a week. Kees and his wife are wonderful hosts and have a beautiful property overlooking the lake. They offer homemade breakfast where you can choose within a few different options. We saw monkeys, frogs, and different birds during our stay. Kees also helped us to get a rental car, which I highly appreciate. You are surrounded by sounds of nature and a beautiful Arenal Lake. Highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to explore the area.

All that you could hope for...
We spent 2 weeks at Monte Terras. Every morning began with a custom made breakfast delivered to our room by Cees. You could order your breakfast the night before, and even specify what time you would like to have it delivered. The view of the lake and the volcano was as nice as any view we had during our month in Costa Rica! Cees has a considerable knowledge of the country, and gave us great advice. While on the property we could watch a sloth climbing in the trees! While on walks we saw many toucan and monkeys. We can’t say enough good things about our stay at Monte Terras!

Great value and a great view!
Very nice room with a second room for my kids. They have a nice pool overlooking an Amazing view of lake arenal. Breakfast was great. Would stay again.

Kees & Griselda
He started his B&B Monte Terras in Tronadora, Tilaran, Costa Rica. With his passions nature and crafts (hobby furniture maker) he soon felt at home. In 2009 he met his wife Griselda, together they have further expanded the hotel into what it is today.
Kees is also running a travel agency and guests of Monte Terras B&B and Cabinas can benefit from the extensive knowledge that Kees has about Costa Rica; he is always welcome to help!
