Tilaran Costa Rica
Tilaran Costa Rica belongs to the province of Guanacaste and is located on the south-west side of Lake Arenal, 3.5 hours from San Jose international airport (SJO Juan Santamaria) and less than 1.5 hours from the international airport of Liberia (LIR Daniel Oduber Quirós).
Both the canton (greater area) and the town are called Tilaran. In Tilaran you can still get the authentic Costa Rica experience, no mass tourism here, just rolling hills with livestock and horses grazing. The area is also known for windmill parks and hydroelectric plants; Tilaran produces a lot of electricity for the greater area. Also Tilaran town is not touristy, it is laid back and a fun place to stroll around and taste the Costa Rican culture. So, if you are looking for a more ‘off the beaten path’ experience, you will not be disappointed after visiting Tilaran, Costa Rica.

Tronadora, Tilaran Costa Rica
Monte Terras B&B and Cabinas is located in Tronadora, which is part of the canton Tilaran, Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
This tiny town on less than 15 minutes from Tilaran, lies right next to Lake Arenal. Enjoy the spectacular views over the lake with the famous Arenal volcano in the distance.
Tronadora town is so small that you mostly have to go to Tilaran for shopping, groceries, banks and restaurants. Tronadora only has a mini market, bakery, butcher shop and one simple restaurant.
The climate in Tronadora and Tilaran is very pleasant. The average temperature is 76°F/25°C and there is always some wind. This is also why it is the place to go windsurfing in Costa Rica. But you can do many other watersports on the Tilaran side of Lake Arenal. Many tourists love to go on the water with a kayak and it offers some of the best fishing in Costa Rica. Of course, you can also just jump in the water to swim, the water has a nice warm temperature and is clean.
But there is much more to do when staying in Tronadora, Tilaran.
